Rideshare company DiDi is introducing an innovative new service to Melbourne this summer aimed at keeping roads safer during the festive season. Known as DiDi Tow, the service combines traditional ridesharing with towing, allowing you and your car to be transported home together after a night out.
The concept is simple: users can book a bright orange DiDi Tow truck via the app. The driver will load your car onto the flatbed, and you, along with one other passenger, can ride up front to your destination. At the end of the trip, your car is parked safely at your home.
The trial, launching over the holidays, is designed to discourage drunk driving while offering a convenient solution for getting both you and your vehicle home.
During this pilot phase, DiDi Tow will not charge any additional fees beyond the cost of a standard ride, making it an affordable and accessible option for Melburnians.
