This winter a massive interactive game where you and your friends become the players in a real-life adventure is headed to Melbourne for the first time. Prison Island, opening on 5 June at District Docklands, is part obstacle course, part puzzle challenge, and all fun.

Think of it like this: instead of escaping one room (like in escape rooms), you’ll tackle 34 different challenge “cells” in 90 minutes. You might dodge lasers, solve tricky puzzles, or test your reflexes – every cell is different. It’s perfect for families, friend groups, or even work teams looking for something exciting to do together.
“The whole point is to bring people together through play,” says Prison Island creator Mikael Bouteillon. “Whether you’re good at physical challenges or brain teasers, there’s something here for everyone.”

Originally a hit in Europe, Prison Island uses smart technology to make sure the games stay fresh – so you can come back and have a completely different experience. Kids as young as 7 can play, but adults will find it just as challenging and fun.
Tickets go on sale May 7, but you can sign up now for early access. Sessions start June 5 at District Docklands.
