After more than a decade away, Mariah Carey is finally returning to Australian stages as the headliner of this year’s Fridayz Live tour. The celebrated singer will be joined by an impressive lineup including Pitbull, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Jon, Eve, Tinie Tempah and Jordin Sparks for the nationwide concert series this October.
Melbourne fans will be able to catch the show at Marvel Stadium on 25 October.
The tour marks the eighth installment of Fridayz Live, which first launched in 2016 as a live version of The Hit Network’s popular RnB Fridays radio segment. Over the years, the event has brought major international acts like Janet Jackson, Usher and 50 Cent to Australian audiences.
“I missed you terribly, certainly the fans, and the people, the beautiful land and the animals, you know, it’s Australia, c’mon!” Carey said about her upcoming return.
Carey’s set will likely feature career-spanning hits like “Fantasy,” “Always Be My Baby” and “We Belong Together,” showcasing the vocal prowess that has earned her five Grammy Awards.
She’ll be joined by Pitbull, known for his high-energy party anthems including “Give Me Everything” and “Timber,” along with Wiz Khalifa performing his laidback hits “See You Again” and “Young, Wild & Free.”
The lineup also includes hip-hop veteran Lil Jon, who will bring his signature crunk sound with tracks like “Turn Down for What,” while Eve will perform her early 2000s hits including “Let Me Blow Ya Mind.” American Idol winner Jordin Sparks and British rapper Tinie Tempah round out the bill with their respective pop and hip-hop hits.
“This is going to be an unforgettable tour,” said Amanda Lee, Head of Hit Metro Content, noting the significance of bringing the lineup during RnB Fridays’ 10th anniversary year.
Since its inception, Fridayz Live has attracted more than 600,000 attendees across Australia. Mushroom Group CEO Matt Gudinski said this year’s edition will feature “our biggest Fridayz Live lineup yet,” continuing the successful partnership between the promotion company and The Hit Network.
