Melbourne’s beauty scene is about to get its biggest glow-up yet. On Friday 8 August, MECCA will unveil its long-awaited flagship store at 299 Bourke Street – a three-level, 4,000-square-metre beauty wonderland that’s not just the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, but one of the biggest in the world.
Housed in the historic Cole’s Book Arcade building, the space has been reimagined to blend heritage charm with modern luxury. Expect terrazzo floors, arched windows, and over 20 artworks by women artists, curated as part of MECCA’s M-Power initiative.
Initially slated for a 2023 launch, the store’s debut was postponed due to various challenges encountered during the project’s development. These included complexities in construction and restoration efforts associated with the heritage-listed building, as well as broader logistical hurdles.
Inside, more than 200 global beauty brands await, alongside 80+ services designed to redefine the retail experience. From a seven-room skin clinic and express beauty bars to an interactive perfume gallery and a 200-square-metre auditorium for masterclasses, this is a space built for both indulgence and immersion.
The MECCA Apothecary which is a first for the brand will offer holistic wellness services including naturopathy, acupuncture, and breathwork, in partnership with Melbourne Apothecary. There’s even an in-house café and floristry, making it the ultimate one-stop shop for beauty, wellness, and lifestyle.
With more than 300 staff ready to guide you through every serum, scent, and service, MECCA Bourke Street is set to be more than just a store – it will be a destination.
