Arbory Afloat is set to reopen this month for its 10th season on the Yarra River with a dazzling new theme: Rio Carnival. From Friday, 29 August, the iconic floating bar will transform into a tropical, samba-infused oasis right in the heart of the city.
This year’s iteration swaps last season’s Italian beach club aesthetic for lush rainforest greens, turquoise awnings, and sunset-toned lounge areas. Hand-painted murals and mirrored structures evoke the vibrancy of Copacabana, creating an immersive setting that invites you to pretend you’re basking in Brazilian shores – even if Melbourne’s weather has other plans.
Arbory’s event lineup will greet you with high-energy spirit: day-long DJ sets, samba dancers, and Latin-inspired entertainment mirror the grand scale of Rio’s famed Carnival.
The food and drinks live up to the theme with a passionfruit- and guava-forward cocktail menu. Featured drinks like the Passionfruit Pisco Sour and frozen Mango Batida channel HQ Group’s creative cocktail wizardry, while Executive Chef Paul Dunlop’s menu will bring smoky grilled meats, crispy pastels, and fresh arepas inspired by South American street food vibes.
For summer sunseekers, there’s more: a new infinity pool on the lower deck, flanked by palm trees, daybeds, and an agave bar for cooling off in style. A taco hut and rotating frozen cocktails—like margarita popsicles—keep the fiesta going through the hottest days.
Whether you’re after rooftop sunset vibes, immersive drinks, or a splashy NYE extravaganza on the river, Arbory Afloat’s Rio season stands out. With its high-concept design, bold flavours, and all-day party energy, it sets a new standard in Melbourne’s summer social scene.
Tickets now open and bookings for events like the NYE Rio Extravaganza are already selling fast—best to lock in your spot early.
