The AFL Grand Final is already the country’s biggest day in sport – but in 2025, the pre-game hype just went up in smoke. Hip-hop icon, cultural figurehead and all-round entertainer Snoop Dogg has been confirmed to headline the Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment at the MCG this September, marking his first-ever live performance at the famous ground.
With a career that’s been cruising for more than 30 years, Snoop has dropped anthems that have soundtracked parties, road trips and late nights for generations. From Gin and Juice to Drop It Like It’s Hot, Beautiful to Young, Wild & Free, he’s blended West Coast swagger with a laid-back charm that transcends eras — and genres.
His MCG debut promises to be “one of the most unforgettable Telstra pre-game shows in AFL history”, according to AFL CEO Andrew Dillon.
“Snoop Dogg is a pioneer, a performer, and a true entertainer. He’s played to packed stadiums around the world — but we think 100,000 fans at the MCG might just be his most iconic crowd yet,” he said.
“We want Grand Final Day to be an unforgettable celebration of footy — and beyond the four quarters of the match, a celebration of culture, energy, and entertainment. Snoop fits that brief better than anyone.”
From Long Beach to Jolimont, Snoop’s path to the MCG is a long way from his California roots. But the man himself says he’s ready for the big stage:
“It’s an absolute honour to be hitting the stage at the AFL Grand Final – it’s one of the biggest events on the Aussie calendar,” Snoop said.
“Can’t wait to bring the energy and celebrate with the fans. Let’s make it unforgettable,” he said.
