If you’re looking for a Father’s Day outing with a twist, the Makers & Shakers Market has you covered. Returning to the Royal Exhibition Building on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September, the spring edition is shaping up as the biggest yet, with more than 180 stallholders, fresh food, workshops and family-friendly entertainment.
From slow fashion to skincare, small-batch treats to handmade homewares, the market celebrates the best of Australian-made design and creativity. Thirty-five new stallholders will debut this year, joining long-time favourites in a line-up that’s proudly curated in partnership with the Australian Made Campaign – meaning every item is designed and made locally.
Highlights include live portraits by Melbourne artist Frances Cannon, creative collage workshops with That Paper Joint, and the chance to taste Mrs Browne Bakes’ Raspberry Goldfields Cookie Pie – fresh off its win at Ballarat’s Best Pie 2025.
Families can dive into the dedicated Dad’s Zone, stop by Awkward Portraits for a double-denim themed family photo, or let kids loose in the expanded Kids Zone with craft stations and the return of the Mini Makers & Shakers Market.
Food-wise, the line-up is just as strong, with Rocco’s Bologna Discoteca, Wonderbao, Greek Street Food, Hamsa Hummus Bar and the OG Taco Truck all serving up eats. Vinyl DJs will set the soundtrack, while hands-on workshops let visitors try everything from painting to jewellery making.
Tickets are just $5 for adults (kids under 12 free). Skip the queue and book at themakersandshakers.com.au.
