Daniel Johns will step back on stage this November for the first time in more than five years, presenting four special nights of film, music and storytelling in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Newcastle.
Melbourne fans can see him at The Palais in St Kilda on Thursday 13 November.
The shows mark the worldwide premiere of Johns’ short film, What If The Future Never Happened?, directed by James Medlam. Each screening will be framed by an intimate, hour-long onstage conversation in which Johns shares unseen photos, archival footage and unreleased recordings from his own collection.

Fans can expect rare demos, including embryonic Neon Ballroom bedroom recordings, the first session of Silverchair’s “Straight Lines”, and material that never made it onto a sixth Silverchair album. Johns will also play music from his solo projects and collaborations, ensuring no two nights are the same.
“What If The Future Never Happened? is equal parts reality and fantasy and I’m as proud of it as anything I’ve ever done in my career,” Johns said. “To celebrate the release of the Featurette, I’ll be sitting on stage, telling stories, taking the aux chord and sharing tunes that nobody has heard… Basically, turning theatres into giant living rooms… it would be great if some people showed up but I’m doing it anyway – you’re all invited!”
Shot in Newcastle in 2022 and held back to mark the 30th anniversary of Frogstomp, the semi-autobiographical featurette spins a fictionalised version of Johns’ teenage years, colliding ‘90s nostalgia with sci-fi futurism.
Produced by Clockwork Films with Johns, BMG and Winarch, it features orchestral reinterpretations of Silverchair classics.
Tickets for Daniel Johns In Conversation: What If The Future Never Happened? go on sale Thursday 25 September, with Frontier Member presales opening Wednesday 24 September.
