In an elegant fusion of fine whisky and classic film, revered Scottish distillery The Glendronach is transforming movie night into a luxurious sensory experience this November.
Running exclusively at Palace Cinema Como in South Yarra from Wednesday 12 to Friday 14 November, the limited-edition “Whisky-Meets-Film Experience” pairs rare single malts with cinematic storytelling and gourmet reimaginings of classic cinema snacks.
Curated by Melbourne film critic Zak Hepburn, the three-night event showcases a curated lineup of films chosen to reflect the character of The Glendronach’s most celebrated expressions.
The series opens with The Great Gatsby alongside The Glendronach 12-Year-Old — a nod to indulgence and nostalgia — followed by Y Tu Mamá También paired with the 15-Year-Old, evoking Spanish sherry warmth and sensual complexity. The finale features The Godfather matched with the 18-Year-Old, capturing the whisky’s balance of power, patience and legacy.
Each $50 ticket, equivalent to a Palace Platinum screening, includes a guided tasting of The Glendronach’s featured single malt, plus a rare pour from the Master’s Anthology Series. A bespoke cocktail is then served directly to guests’ seats by a personal whisky butler.
Classic cinema snacks are elevated with a gourmet touch – think Yarra Valley caviar-topped popcorn and Spanish charcuterie inspired by the distillery’s famed Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. The night ends on a high note with a sweet treat and a surprise tasting of an unreleased Glendronach whisky valued at $2,000.
“Pairing film and whisky is about more than flavour; it’s about emotion, atmosphere and storytelling,” Hepburn said.
The Glendronach Whisky-Meets-Film Experience runs from 12–14 November 2025 at Palace Cinema Como. Tickets are limited and available via The Glendronach website
