Death & Co Melbourne is now open on Flinders Lane, bringing one of the world’s most influential cocktail bars to the heart of the CBD. The launch marks the bar group’s first venture outside the United States, expanding a legacy that began in New York’s East Village in 2006 and now spans Denver, Los Angeles and Washington D.C.

Located at 87 Flinders Lane, the venue unfolds across two intimate spaces, the Ground Floor Bar and the Cellar Bar. The design captures the mood and sophistication that define the original Manhattan bar while folding in a distinctly local sensibility.

“Only a handful of hospitality venues globally have as much of a claim to a legacy as Death & Co” says Cara Devine, Death & Co Melbourne Venue Manager.
“It’s undeniable that today’s cocktail landscape has been moulded, in part, by a small but impactful bar in the East Village of New York,” she said.

She says Melbourne’s laneways and appetite for craft make the city an ideal home for this evolution of the brand.
“Melbourne, with its thriving food and drink scene and little laneway spots, is a natural fit. But it goes beyond the food and drinks, curiosity and connection are at the core of what Death & Co does – we’re thrilled to bring that spirit to Australia with an unmistakable local accent,” she said.

The drinks list features Death & Co’s signatures alongside creations shaped across the group’s venues. Highlights include the Telegraph, built on Four Pillars Dry Gin with eucalyptus notes; Sound & Fury, a raspberry and red capsicum riff on a Margarita; and the Buko Gimlet, layering Filipino dessert flavours with navy gin, cachaça and pandan.

Guests can also opt for Dealer’s Choice, where bartenders tailor a cocktail through conversation and a deep library of recipes.
The food menu is designed for sharing, from a classic Gilda to gin cured kingfish, tempura-style Chip & Dip and a cheeseburger built on dry aged beef and Martin’s potato buns. Cheese dishes range from a Tête de Moine tart to Brillat-Savarin paired with apple tarte tatin.

“This is our first time bringing Death & Co beyond the U.S., so it’s a real ‘pinch me’ moment,” says founder David Kaplan.-

Open daily from 4pm to 1am, Death & Co Melbourne offers seated service across both levels and welcomes walk-ins throughout the evening.
