Bunnings is doubling down on its unexpected rise as one of Australia’s most entertaining pop-up venues, returning this weekend with another stunt that’s set to get Melbourne talking. After last year’s viral Bunnings Warehouse Party with Peking Due stopped Melburnians in their tracks, the hardware giant is again swapping drills and decking for live music and festival energy.
This Saturday, Bunnings Port Melbourne store will team up with Beyond The Valley for a one-night-only takeover, transforming the store into a temporary music hub.
Mallrat and DJ Cooper Smith, both on this year’s Beyond The Valley line-up, will hit the stage from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm. Entry is free, and in a twist that keeps the event all-ages friendly, no alcohol will be served. Expect BBQs firing, summer-festival atmosphere and a focus on community, with proceeds supporting Support Act.
Capacity is tight, and interest is already high. Registrations open at 12 pm on Wednesday, 19 November through the Bunnings website.
“Beyond The Valley is one of my favourite festivals, and teaming up with Bunnings for this pop-up gig is something that I didn’t expect but am really excited about,” Mallrat said.
“As an artist, I think that being able to play a free, all-ages gig is the best way to connect with the local community and celebrate creativity.” She added, “I am so happy to see a big Aussie brand supporting local music like this, and I can’t wait to play at Bunnings!”
Bunnings Chief Customer Officer Rachael McVitty said the response to last year’s event inspired another celebration ahead of festival season, adding that partnering with Beyond The Valley is part of supporting home-grown music talent while giving fans a unique experience in the timber yard.
