After a long hiatus, Momo Fest is finally making its way back to Melbourne. Australia’s only festival dedicated entirely to delicious Nepalese dumplings – momo – will take over Footscray Park from 12pm to 10pm on Saturday April 11 and Sunday April 12, with free entry across the whole weekend.
Last held in 2019, the festival built a loyal following before the pandemic pressed pause. Now it is back and bigger, with more than 40 food and drink vendors serving up every kind of momo you can imagine. Expect steamed, fried and chilli loaded variations of the beloved Nepali dumpling, alongside other traditional dishes and street food favourites.
But this is more than just a food stop. The two day program brings live music from international and local acts, DJ sets, multicultural performances and roving entertainers. There will also be carnival rides, games and interactive workshops, including momo making competitions for anyone keen to test their folding skills.
During the day, it is an easy win for families, with kids’ entertainment and plenty of space to spread out in the park. As the sun goes down, the atmosphere shifts into something a little more electric, with music and lights carrying the energy into the evening.
Registered attendees can also go into the draw for prizes across the weekend. More information is available here.
