The F1 Melbourne Fan Festival is back for 2026 and this time it’s taking over Federation Square.
Running from 10am to 10pm, Friday 6 March to Sunday 8 March, the free three day event will bring the buzz of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix out of Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit and into the heart of the city.
“There’s something really special about seeing the city come alive during race week, and the F1 Melbourne Fan Festival is all about sharing that vibe,” said Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Travis Auld.
Fans can catch all the on track action on the big screen, including Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Supercars, with seating provided across the square. There’ll be live crosses straight from the circuit and exclusive content you won’t see in the regular broadcast, including Melbourne Walk segments and driver interviews with stars like Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Off screen, it’s set to feel more like a race week playground than a viewing party. Racing simulators, official F1 team merchandise, a virtual F1 Driver Selfie activation and the chance to stand on a replica podium are all part of the mix. For the first time, fans can also get up close to the next generation F1 show car.
Food and drink will be available across the site, making it easy to settle in for a full day of racing.
“The Formula 1 Grand Prix doesn’t just create excitement – it brings real economic benefits – drawing visitors from around the country and the world, and supporting local businesses, hotels and jobs,” said Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos.
