If your ideal long weekend involves fresh seafood, fishing tips and live music by the water, Lakes Entrance has you sorted.
Hooked on Lakes returns to the Lakes Entrance Foreshore Reserve on Sunday 8 March across the Labour Day long weekend, serving up a free, family friendly celebration of all things fishing and seafood.
Running from 11am to 4pm, with live music, food and drinks continuing through until 8pm, the day is packed. Expect fishing clinics, expert talks, a fishing and outdoor swap meet, seafood cooking demonstrations and fish filleting tips from local co op LEFCOL. There’ll be shuttle bus tours to LEFCOL, free Come and Try fishing clinics for kids run by Fishcare, and aquatic ecology sessions with OzFish.
The Aquaculture Hub will showcase Victorian grown produce with free samples, while Women in Recreational Fishing and Boating network leaders share tips and advice. Kids can dive into fish themed crafts and activities, and food stands including Mitchelson Fisheries will keep everyone well fed.
From 2pm to 6pm, Battle of the Bands and Battle of the Buskers take over the stage, spotlighting emerging Gippsland talent. Headlining the weekend is Australian folk and blues duo Pierce Brothers, bringing their high energy set to the waterfront.
Kicking things off on Saturday night, Off the Wharf will host a ticketed Seafood Extravaganza showcasing the best local catch alongside live music in its restaurant space.
