One of Australia’s biggest music festivals is making a long-term move to Geelong, with Spilt Milk confirming the regional city will host the Victorian edition of the festival until at least 2030.
The announcement marks the end of the festival’s run in Ballarat, with future Victorian events to be held at Kardinia Park Stadium and Precinct from this year onwards. The move has been backed by Visit Victoria and the City of Greater Geelong, securing the festival’s future in the region for the next five years.
Since launching in Canberra in 2016, Spilt Milk has grown into one of the country’s premier music festivals, expanding to the Gold Coast, Ballarat and Perth while attracting major international acts including Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Lorde, Flume and Childish Gambino.
The festival has also delivered a significant economic boost to Victoria. Since arriving in the state in 2019, Spilt Milk has contributed more than $46.7 million to the Victorian economy, including $17.2 million generated by the 2025 event alone.
Festival organisers believe Geelong is the ideal location for its next chapter, with Kicks Entertainment Director and Co-Founder Ryan Sabet saying the partnership demonstrates that world-class festivals can thrive outside Australia’s capital cities while continuing to bring tens of thousands of visitors to regional Victoria each December.
The move has also been welcomed by local leaders, who say hosting a major national festival will provide young people with greater access to live music while delivering ongoing benefits for local businesses, tourism and the broader community.
While the venue has now been confirmed, attention will soon turn to the 2026 lineup, with organisers teasing that artist announcements are expected in the coming weeks. A recent teaser featured music from Irish DJ and producer KETTAMA, sparking speculation about who could appear when Spilt Milk returns to Victoria in its new Geelong home.
