Station Pier is now open to the public seven days a week, giving locals, visitors and recreational fishers more opportunities to enjoy one of Port Melbourne’s best-known waterfront spots.
The pier is open from 7am to 5pm every day when there are no ship operations taking place, with public access available to the southern end via the Station Pier central access way.
The expanded access follows the pier’s limited reopening in 2025 after maintenance works forced it to close in 2020. The works included upgrades to the Gatehouse, structural pylons, electrical systems, corrosion protection and wharf deck.
Accessible parking is also available at the southern end of the pier for vehicles displaying an accessible parking permit, although spaces are limited.
The extended opening comes as Station Pier continues to welcome cruise ships, with 63 vessel visits currently scheduled for the upcoming 2026/27 cruise season. An increasing number of cruise ships are also choosing to home port in Melbourne.
Station Pier has long been a popular spot for fishing, sightseeing and taking in views across Port Phillip, and the longer opening hours mean visitors can make the most of the waterfront throughout the week.
Minister for Ports and Freight Melissa Horne said the expanded access would give people more time to visit the pier.
“We have increased public access at Station Pier – giving locals, tourists and recreational fishers more time to enjoy what this iconic pier has to offer.”
“Now that essential works are now completed, we are looking forward to having Victorians visit and enjoy Station Pier seven days a week,” she said.
