Mattel is celebrating its 80th anniversary with a major activation at Chadstone these September school holidays, transforming the retail hub into an immersive playground from Saturday 20 September to Sunday 5 October.
The program spans toys, fashion, music and lifestyle, showcasing some of the company’s most iconic brands – Barbie, Hot Wheels and Fisher-Price – while highlighting Mattel’s cultural impact over eight decades.
Families can dive into Mattel Adventure Camp, an interactive setup featuring a life-size Barbie Dream Camper, a Hot Wheels Monster Truck campfire jump, obstacle courses and a Speed Snap Track. Kids receive a limited-edition Chadstone x Mattel Adventure Camp bucket hat to customise and take home.
For collectors and long-time fans, the Young at Heart experience outside David Jones offers exclusive Mattel products, apparel and fan favourites. A highlight is the Romance Was Born x Mattel Collection – couture pieces inspired by Barbie, Hot Wheels, Polly Pocket, Fisher-Price and Masters of the Universe, displayed for the first time since Australian Fashion Week.
On Saturday 28 September, Hotel Chadstone will host two Fisher-Price x Lenny Pearce Family Experience sessions, bringing the entertainer’s famed baby raves to life with music and play. Meanwhile, the Malibu Barbie Café continues at The Social Quarter, serving retro-inspired food and drinks alongside themed booths, photo backdrops and a mini roller-skating rink.
Mattel Adventure Camp sessions are $5 and available to book at chadstone.com.au. Limited walk-ins available. Tickets for Fisher-Price x Lenny Pearce Family Experience are $15 per person (children under 12 months free) and must be pre-purchased.
