Melbourne motorsport fans will soon be able to cheer on hometown hero Oscar Piastri from a grandstand bearing his name, with the rising Formula 1 star to be permanently honoured at Albert Park.
From the 2026 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, the Piastri Grandstand will take pride of place opposite pit lane and the team garages, cementing the local champion’s legacy in his home city.
“’I’m very excited by the news that I’ll have my own grandstand at next year’s Australian Grand Prix,” Piastri said.
” It feels very surreal, and I never thought this would happen but the support is incredible and I can’t wait to see it all come together next March.”
“Seeing all the fans in my own grandstand directly opposite the McLaren garage is going to be an amazing experience and I’m really looking forward to feeling the energy and the atmosphere.”
“Thanks to everyone who has made this happen and thanks in advance to everyone who wants to be part of it. The Australian fans always turn out to support me and this is just an extra reason why I can’t wait to race in Melbourne in 2026.” he said.
New data confirmed this year’s race smashed records, with estimated attendance reaching 465,498 – more than 13,000 higher than 2024 – while delivering more than $320 million to the state economy and supporting 1600 jobs.
Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Travis Auld said the recognition was well deserved.
“Oscar has achieved incredible success in his early career across karting, F3, F2 and now in F1. It is only fitting that we honour Oscar’s incredible rise in the sport with a dedicated grandstand at his home Grand Prix,” Mr Auld said.
Tickets for the 2026 event go on sale on 3 September via pre-sale, with general release from 10 September.
