For the fifth year running, a Victorian winery has taken home Australia’s top wine honors—and this time, it’s Geelong’s beloved Wine by Farr, crowned The Real Review’s 2025 Winery of the Year. It’s the second time the Farr family has claimed the title, proving their wines aren’t just exceptional—they’re consistently extraordinary.
“The Farr team continues to produce wines of exceptional quality and character, year after year,” said critic Huon Hooke, singling out their 99-point RP Pinot Noir and a trio of 98-point stunners.
Victoria didn’t just win; it dominated. The Yarra Valley alone swept three of the top four spots, with Yarra Yering (#2), Levantine Hill (#3), and Giant Steps (#4) showcasing why this region remains a powerhouse of Australian wine. In fact, nine of the country’s top 20 wineries call Victoria home – a testament to the state’s “commanding presence,” as The Real Review put it.
The accolades didn’t stop there. Yarra Valley’s Yeringberg scored Red Wine of the Year for its 2022 vintage, while Giant Steps’ Applejack Vineyard Chardonnay 2023 claimed White Wine of the Year and the Chambers Rutherglen Grand Muscat NV won Fortified Wine of the Year . And in a fitting tribute, Yeringberg’s Sandra and David de Pury were named Vigneron of the Year.
