Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson is stepping into a bold new phase, dropping his latest single Weekends and confirming his second solo album 10Charlie will land on 14 August.
Weekends is the first glimpse of what’s to come from the Australian singer-songwriter and it leans into Jamieson’s instinct for mood and storytelling. Built on ambient guitars and that instantly recognisable voice, the track sets the tone for a record that feels both reflective and expansive.
“Weekends. It’s a destination. It’s a place among the tall pines. It’s a restaurant / bar / coffee shop / diner. You can go to Weekends on a Monday. It’s a place to agree or disagree,” explains Jamieson.
“The song is built around intimacy and hope. And it has some fun guitars.”
The album, 10Charlie, sees Jamieson reconnect with producer Oscar Dawson and collaborate with names like Davey Lane, Rob Muinos, Ben Edgar and Soph Ozard. It’s a record shaped by introspection but never stuck there.
“This album is much more personal than my first record. In times of intense turbulence, I’ve written what I’ve needed to hear,” Jamieson says. “It’s a balm for my soul. 10Charlie is a boarding pass. You are not in the exit row, your luggage can be stored under the seat in front of you. Please follow all cabin crew directions and fasten your seat belt for take off.”

To bring it all to life, Jamieson will hit the road for PJ AIR, a massive national tour stopping in just about every corner of the country. Victoria gets a strong run of shows, kicking off at Tanswell’s Hotel in Beechworth on Thu 25 June, followed by Sooki Lounge in Belgrave on Friday 26 June and Young Street Tavern in Frankston on Saturday 27 June. The run continues at Theatre Royal in Castlemaine on Friday 3 July and Eureka Hotel in Geelong on Saturday 4 July.
The tour returns in August with dates at The Deck in Traralgon on Fridayi7 August, Live at the Bundy in Bundalaguah on Saturday 8 August and Social Club in Balnarring on Sunday 9 August, before wrapping up at Shotkickers in Melbourne on Friday 14 August.
“PJ AIR is a BIG adventure. My co-pilot is Ricky Albeck and I can’t wait to play for you all. Songs will be sung and stories will be told.”
