The fluffiest weekend on the agricultural calendar is back. From 8–10 August 2025, the Australian Alpaca National Show returns to Bendigo’s Prince of Wales Showgrounds, celebrating 35 years of alpaca excellence and inviting all to enjoy three days of free, fleece-filled fun.
Proudly presented by the Australian Alpaca Association (AAA), the event is a highlight for breeders, makers and animal lovers alike.
As President Brett Fallon puts it: “Alpacas have become an integral part of Australia’s agricultural sector, with more than 160,000 recorded around the country – earning us the mantle of being home to the second highest population in the Southern Hemisphere, behind Peru.”

With more than 300 Huacaya and Suri alpacas strutting their stuff in the ring, the show is more than just adorable animals – it’s a celebration of world-class fleece, sustainable agriculture, and community. Renowned for its softness, strength and rainbow of 22 natural colours, alpaca fibre is in hot demand from China to New Zealand.
“This year’s show is particularly special as we celebrate 35 years of the Australian Alpaca Association,” says Show Convenor Jonathon Provis-Vincent. “Each year, the event continues to grow, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to join in the celebration.”

Expect beautifully crafted alpaca goods, 150 fleeces from breeders across six states, and a buzzing trade hall. Whether you’re after a luxe scarf, booking an alpaca farm stay, or just keen to meet these gentle animals up close – this weekend in Bendigo has it all.
