After winning Best Music in 2023, Milly Moon returns to Melbourne Fringe with a brand-new creation that’s equal parts dark, dreamy and deeply human. Birds of Paradise is her latest dive into the raw edge of musical storytelling – a performance that lingers long after the last note.
Moon’s debut show, Walking Songs, turned heads with its blend of honesty and haunting vocals. This time, she’s joined by UK/NZ poet Benny Coles (aka Benny ‘the bard’) and multi-disciplinary NZ artist Lucy-Belle Willcox. Together, they weave story, song and poetry into a live collaboration that refuses to shy away from the messiness of love, loss, joy and change.

The result is a stripped-back, unadorned celebration of what connects us – and the spaces in between. Expect a performance that questions, unsettles, and heals in equal measure.
For anyone who has loved, lost, or learned the hard way, this is a show that sings exactly where it hurts – and where it matters most.
