The excitement of the Boxing Day Test will extend beyond the MCG this summer, with Yarra Park hosting a free four-day festival celebrating cricket, music and community from 26–29 December 2025.
Cricket Australia, the Victorian Government and the City of Melbourne have launched the Boxing Day Test Summer Fest, promising to turn Yarra Park into a hub of entertainment during one of Melbourne’s most anticipated sporting events.
Visitors can expect live music and DJs, pop-up bars, and food trucks serving Melbourne favourites, alongside family activities, games and interactive cricket zones. Big screens around the park will broadcast all the Ashes action as Australia faces England in what’s expected to be one of the most attended Tests in recent memory.
Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg said the festival will enhance the experience for fans and showcase Melbourne’s world-class event culture.
“The Boxing Day Test Summer Fest will be a highlight of a hugely anticipated event promoting the best of Melbourne and Victoria,” Greenberg said.
“We are grateful to the Victorian Government and City of Melbourne for their fantastic support in helping to ensure the hundreds of thousands of locals and visitors who attend the match and travel into the city have an amazing experience.”
City of Melbourne Lord Mayor Nick Reece said the festival will cement Melbourne’s reputation as Australia’s sporting capital.
“Yarra Park will be transformed into a festival of fun for the Boxing Day Test Summer Fest – the ultimate place for fans to follow the action, soak up the atmosphere and have a wicket good time,” he said.
