For the first time in almost a decade, acclaimed singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega will return to Australia, bringing her poetic storytelling and timeless sound to stages across the country as part of her Flying With Angels tour.
In Melbourne, she’ll be at Hamer Hall on Tuesday 22 September 2026.
The tour will see Vega perform a career-spanning set featuring beloved songs such as Tom’s Diner, Luka, and Marlene On The Wall, alongside new material from her critically acclaimed 2025 album Flying With Angels. The record, released earlier this year, has been praised for its reflective tone and lyrical grace – qualities that have long defined Vega’s work.
A defining voice of the 1980s folk revival, Vega began performing in Greenwich Village clubs, crafting her own brand of contemporary folk music that was both understated and deeply evocative. Since her 1985 debut, she has built a loyal following around the world, known for songs that turn the quiet details of everyday life into something profound. Her music often explores themes of city life, human connection, and resilience, marked by an economy of words and a distinct melodic clarity.
Australian audiences can expect an intimate and elegant live performance, with Vega joined by her long-time guitarist Gerry Leonard and cellist Stephanie Winters. Together, they’ll reimagine her catalogue with subtle new textures while preserving the lyrical honesty that has made her a singular voice in modern music.
The Flying With Angels tour will visit Brisbane, Caloundra, Tweed Heads, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. Tickets go on sale Wednesday 30 October.
For fans who have waited nearly a decade to see her live, Suzanne Vega’s return promises to be a spellbinding celebration of songcraft from one of folk’s most enduring and distinctive artists.
