Melbourne’s most beloved festive tradition returns this year bigger, brighter and more playful than ever, as Myer marks the 70th anniversary of its iconic Christmas Windows with a spectacular collaboration with the LEGO Group.

Unveiled at the Bourke Street flagship, A Playful LEGO Christmas Story transforms six of Myer’s windows into a journey of imagination and festive wonder, brought to life through almost 500,000 LEGO bricks. The story follows a child’s Christmas letter as it travels from a Melbourne post office to Santa’s North Pole workshop, guided by a mischievous elf.
Each window reveals a new chapter of the adventure, from Santa’s sorting room to his toy workshop and wrapping station, before returning home for a glittering reindeer flight on Christmas Eve.

With more than 700 LEGO minifigures appearing throughout the scenes, the story features local touches including Carols by Candlelight at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and preparations for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.

Myer Executive Chair Olivia Wirth said: “Myer’s Christmas windows have delighted and created moments of magic and joy for generations since they were launched in 1956. Visiting the windows is a much-loved Christmas tradition for many families and last year were viewed by more than one million people.”
“This year’s story celebrates the joy of play, nostalgia and imagination and we’re delighted to have partnered with the LEGO Group to bring this activation to life to create wonderful memories this Christmas,” she said.

The collaboration brings together the talents of LEGO play ambassador Hamish Blake, Stage One’s Creative Director John Kerr, LEGO Master Builder Peter Donner and LEGO Certified Professional Ryan “The Brickman” McNaught. Kerr said: “To collaborate with the LEGO Group on the 70th anniversary windows are one of the highlights of my 32-year career of working on the Myer Christmas Windows.”

Downstairs, families can continue the adventure in the LEGO Christmas Playland in The Basement at Myer Melbourne, an interactive space filled with creative build zones, photo opportunities and limited-edition LEGO creations.
The Myer Christmas Windows will remain on display daily until Sunday 11 January 2026, with the Playland experience running through to Christmas Eve.
