The 2025 Crown Australian Open is gearing up for a major return to the Melbourne Sandbelt, bringing world-class golf and peak summer energy back to Royal Melbourne Golf Club from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 December. It marks the first time since 1991 that the men’s event has been played at the iconic course, setting the stage for a blockbuster week.
Masters Champion Rory McIlroy leads a strong field packed with Australian favourites Adam Scott, Marc Leishman, Min Woo Lee, Lucas Herbert and Cam Davis. The combination of star power and one of the world’s most revered golf courses positions this year’s Open as one of the tournament’s most anticipated editions.
“This December’s Crown Australian Open will be one of the biggest in living memory – a true celebration of golf at its finest at the renowned Royal Melbourne Golf Club on the famed Melbourne Sandbelt,” says Antonia Beggs, General Manager, Major Events and Operations at Golf Australia and PGA of Australia.
She adds that McIlroy’s appearance will “captivate fans from around the world and reaffirm the Australian Open’s position among the premier tournaments on the global golf calendar.”
Alongside the action on the fairways, The 19th returns as the event’s social hub, offering premium food, summer drinks and live music beside the 18th hole.
The 19th brings together dedicated golf fans and newcomers, with highlights including lounges from Asahi Super Dry and ISLA Vodka, eats from Melbourne favourites like Mr Miyagi, 400 Gradi, Fonda, Zeus Street Greek and LaManna, and interactive fun such as the Crown Spin and Win, the Callaway Odyssey putting challenge and the MyGolf Ripper Zone for families.
“Whether you’re a lifelong golfer or are experiencing the event for the first time, the event has something for everyone. Come for the golf, but stay for the atmosphere – with incredible food, drinks, live music and live entertainment at The 19th,” says Beggs.
With the theme Moments That Make Us, the Open celebrates shared experiences, from watching McIlroy launch a drive to dancing at sunset with a cocktail in hand. Tickets are already moving fast, particularly for the weekend. Kids 17 and under can attend free, and full details are available via Ticketek.
