Gumbuya World is gearing up for something completely new, with the theme park set to host the inaugural Gumbuya World Running Festival this April.
Taking place on Sunday 12 April, the event sees Victoria’s largest theme park team up with Race Hub Australia to deliver a race day that blends fitness with full-scale entertainment. The concept is simple but appealing, with the experience continuing well beyond the finish line.
Runners can choose between a 10km, 5km or 2km Family Dash, with all courses winding through closed-off roads in the surrounding countryside. Starting at the park, the route heads north along Brew Road towards Tynong Quarry before looping back and finishing inside Gumbuya World, bringing participants straight into the centre of the action.
Every race entry includes full-day access to the park, meaning participants can swap running shoes for rollercoasters, water slides and wildlife encounters once they cross the line. There is also an added incentive for early starters, with runners granted exclusive access to the park from 8.30am, ahead of the general public opening at 11.00am.
Each finisher will receive a themed medal, personalised certificate, free race-day photos and post-race refreshments, along with sponsor giveaways. The event will be professionally chip-timed by Multisport Australia, with multiple water stations positioned along the course and on-course nutrition provided by Tailwind Nutrition.
For those not keen to run, spectators can still be part of the day, with general admission tickets available. The 2km Family Dash has been designed to encourage younger runners to get involved, with adults able to register and run alongside children.
The day begins early, with registration opening at 6.00am. The 10km race starts at 7.30am, followed by the 5km at 7.45am and the Family Dash at 8.00am.
