Everyone’s favourite animated TV series, Bluey, is heading to Melbourne, with a world-first exhibition set to open at ACMI in mid-2027.
Minister for Creative Industries Colin Brooks announced the exclusive event today, confirming the immersive showcase will bring the globally loved show to local audiences while drawing interstate and international visitors.
The exhibition is being developed by ACMI in partnership with BBC Studios and Brisbane-based Ludo Studio, the multi-award-winning creators behind the series. It will take visitors behind the scenes of the Australian-made hit, offering a closer look at how the stories and characters come to life.
For families, the experience promises something more hands-on. Visitors will be able to step inside the world of Bluey and explore the creative process behind the show that has become a staple in households across more than 140 countries.
The numbers reflect that reach. In 2024, Bluey was the most-watched series globally on Disney+ based on views, and also topped streaming charts in the United States across 2024 and 2025, according to Nielsen.
“Bluey is loved all over the world, but this incredible exhibition is heading straight to Melbourne,” Brooks said.
“It will be a huge thrill for local families and attract visitors from across Australia and the world.”
Sharon Wilson said the exhibition would extend the show’s appeal beyond the screen.
“Bluey celebrates storytelling that resonates with families everywhere, and this exhibition will bring that magic off the screen and into the real world,” she said.
“We’re pleased to partner with ACMI and Ludo Studio to create an experience where fans can step into the world of Bluey and discover the creativity behind the series in a whole new way.”
The exhibition adds to ACMI’s growing program of family-friendly events. The museum welcomed more than 900,000 visitors in 2024–25 and continues to position itself as a key cultural drawcard in the city.
Before Bluey arrives, ACMI will host Play School: Come and Play! from 4 March 2026, marking 60 years of the iconic children’s show.
Further details and dates for the Bluey exhibition are expected later this year.
