Glam rock never really left, it just waits for the right moment to come roaring back. Sweet are proof of that.
Formed in London in 1968, Sweet became one of the defining bands of the 1970s. The classic lineup of Brian Connolly, Steve Priest, Andy Scott and Mick Tucker helped shape a sound that moved from bubblegum pop into full blown glam rock.
Hits like “The Ballroom Blitz”, “Fox on the Run” and “Block Buster!” turned them into global stars, with a strong following in Australia where they notched up 13 Top 50 singles, including two number ones. Worldwide, they’ve sold more than 55 million records.

Now, led by guitarist Andy Scott, the band returns for The Final Blitz Tour of Australia this October and November. Scott remains the link between the original era and today’s lineup, continuing to steer the sound and spirit that made Sweet such a force in the first place.
Joining him on this run are Adam Booth on drums, Paul Manzi on lead vocals, Lee Small on bass, and Tom Cory on keyboards and guitar. Together, they keep things tight, loud and faithful to the originals without feeling stuck in the past.
Victorian fans will be able to catch them at Bunjil Place in Narre Warren on 12 November, Costa Hall in Geelong on 13 November and the Palais Theatre in St Kilda on 14 November.
If you grew up with them, or just wish you did, this is one of those shows that leans into the nostalgia and delivers exactly what you came for.
