A new way to stay on the Great Ocean Road has arrived, with 20 eco-safari tents now open at Apollo Bay Recreation Reserve. The project brings sustainable and comfortable accommodation to one of Victoria’s most-loved coastal destinations.
The eco-tents are set among trees and beside the Barham River, just moments from the beach. The new accommodation blends comfort with nature, offering options that include private ensuites, accessible designs with DDA-compliant bathrooms, and views across the river and surrounding bushland.

The eco-safari tents form part of a wider precinct upgrade that includes re-grassed green spaces, new road alignment and civil works to improve access, and upgraded park amenities. The improvements are designed to enhance the visitor experience, support higher year-round visitation, and boost local tourism.
Alongside the new glamping tents, the Reserve continues to offer powered caravan sites, traditional camping spots and nearby free campsites in the Otways, including Stevensons Falls and Dando’s Campground.
Bookings for the new eco-safari tents open on 9 October via the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority at greatoceanroadparks.com.au.
