Step into the past at William Angliss Institute’s Tram Café – a unique culinary experience housed in a beautifully restored W5 class tram originally built between 1935 and 1939. The tram, once a familiar sight on La Trobe Street, has now found a home on campus, offering a blend of nostalgia and modernity.
Open to both students and the public, the Tram Café serves up a delightful menu of coffee, drinks, and student-made patisserie and bakery treats.
With a rich history tied to the William Angliss Food Trades School, the tram doubles as a function space and is available for hire for pop-up events. The space also functions as an educational hub, providing practical training for Cookery, Hospitality, and Tourism students.
The iconic tram, number 764, is not just a visual delight but a piece of Melbourne’s history, showcasing the city’s renowned W-class tram design. Whether you’re enjoying a cup of our special coffee blend or exploring the terrace with edible flowers and herbs, the Tram Café promises a charming journey through time and taste.
The Tram Cafe is at 555 La Trobe Street, open Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 3pm with coffees starting at $3.50.
