On 4 February the annual Midsumma Pride March will electrify St Kilda, celebrating diversity, equality, and LGBTQIA+ pride. The march takes place down Fitzroy Street in a kilometer-long parade route to Catani Gardens, kicking off with the roaring motors of the Dykes on Bikes, a traditional spectacle.
More than 53,000 people are anticipated to turn out for this vibrant event, part of Midsumma Festival, that promises a day of inclusivity, activism, and community spirit, showcasing solidarity and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
The procession, resembling a colorful tapestry of unity, reflects the ongoing quest for equality and acceptance. Beyond a mere march, it’s a platform for voices to amplify, stories to be shared, and a testament to the resilience and vibrancy of the LGBTQIA+ community.
