Geelong’s creative heart will be transformed into a playground of art, music, and performance for one unforgettable day and night this October.
On Saturday 11 October, ROAM Geelong will bring hundreds of artists into the streets from 4pm to 10pm, offering a multi-sensory journey through storytelling, sound and spectacle.
Presented by the City of Greater Geelong and supported by Visit Victoria’s Regional Events Fund, the inaugural event will showcase a mix of internationally acclaimed artists and homegrown talent – with more than 60 percent of participants from Greater Geelong itself.
The program is as diverse as it is ambitious. Johnstone Park will host Tomorrow Blooms, an immersive digital botanical landscape by Superficial Studio’s Andrew Kupresanin and Belinda Chen. The park’s rotunda will pulse with live music, while roaming families will stumble across interactive art and creative workshops. As night falls, the centrepiece – a giant falcon – will glide through the park and surrounding streets, accompanied by light shows and soundscapes.
Elsewhere, Platform Arts will spill dance onto the streets with After Walter Hopps Remix, while Dr Anindita Banerjee’s Arranged Marriage lights up Little Malop Street in a whirlwind of Bollywood beats, colour and satire.
At Geelong Library & Heritage Centre, comedian and design advocate Tim Ross will interrogate Australia’s obsession with property in The Australian Dream?. Over at Geelong Arts Centre, Bangarra Dance Theatre debuts The Light Inside — their first-ever cross-cultural collaboration with Maori artists, exploring resilience and connection.
Geelong Gallery will present the 2025 Archibald Prize finalists, while Dr Paola Balla leads local First Nations artists in Gathering Place, a large-scale bush-dyed fabric installation at Gordon Gallery.
“ROAM is a destination event that will transform Geelong’s arts and cultural precinct into creative playground, combining everything our award-winning venues and talented artists have to offer,” said City of Greater Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj.
“We’re thrilled to bring acclaimed performers and local voices together – showcasing the incredible depth of talent in Greater Geelong for all the world to see.”
