Melbourne’s northern suburbs are set for a major boost in public transport, with the addition of 641 extra bus services each week across Craigieburn, Donnybrook, Kalkallo and Roxburgh Park.
The upgrades, starting Sunday 5 October, will expand eight key routes to deliver more frequent trips, longer operating hours and stronger links to train stations and shopping centres.
Route 543 will see the biggest uplift with 183 new weekly trips, including earlier starts, later finishes and 20-minute peak services connecting Greenvale and Greenvale North to Craigieburn Central and Roxburgh Park Station. Route 524 will add 173 weekly trips and extend along Cloverton Boulevard to Kalkallo, providing direct links to Donnybrook Station and Kallo Town Centre.
Five more routes – 525, 528, 529, 533 and 537 – will gain 285 extra services, giving commuters and shift workers better access to Craigieburn Station late into the night, including connections to Craigieburn Central, Craigieburn Plaza and Highlands Shopping Centre.
Meanwhile, Route 511 will be extended along the Hume Highway to Craigieburn Station, connecting Beveridge to the metropolitan train network for the first time. Next year, it will be expanded further to increase frequency and coverage across Beveridge.
