A brand brand-new IMAX cinema with laser is set to open at Hoyts in Chadstone this November. The launch marks the first of four new IMAX screens opening across Australia, with Chadstone leading the way ahead of the hotly anticipated Wicked: For Good.
For moviegoers, the arrival of IMAX with laser means sharper and brighter visuals, vivid colour, and immersive precision sound – all paired with comfortable seating options, from standard recliners to luxury upgrades. It’s an experience designed to turn a trip to the movies into an event in itself.
Damian Keogh, Hoyt Group CEO and President, said the Chadstone launch represents an exciting step in the company’s push to elevate the movie experience for local audiences. “Hoyts is delighted to partner with IMAX to introduce four new screens across Australia, giving movie lovers even more ways to enjoy blockbusters on the big screen,” he said.
Chadstone will be first out of the gates, opening in mid-November, followed by Perth’s Carousel, Blacktown in Sydney, and Melbourne Central in mid-December – the latter having already been announced in July.
It has also been announced that an IMAX cinema will open at Fountain Gate in partnership with Village Cinemas late in 2025.
The first screenings at Chadstone will showcase blockbusters including The Running Man (13 November), Wicked: For Good (20 November), and Zootopia 2 (27 November), before the year closes with the global cinematic event Avatar: Fire and Ash (18 December).
