Melbourne’s rapidly growing western suburbs are set to benefit from three new and upgraded bus routes, with more than 1,500 additional weekly services rolling out from Sunday 7 December.
The major boost aims to improve connections between homes, schools, train stations and local hubs across Tarneit, Truganina, Laverton, Wyndham Vale, Mambourin and Harpley Estate.
Among the changes is the launch of Route 154, which will deliver 728 weekly services between Tarneit, Truganina and Laverton. The new route will link more than 7,600 homes to key destinations including Truganina Central Shopping Centre, Bemin Secondary College and Laverton P–12 College, running every 20 minutes during peak hours.
Also launching is Route 194, with 463 weekly services connecting Wyndham Vale, Mambourin and Harpley Estate to Wyndham Vale Station. The route will operate seven days a week, giving residents in Cornerstone, Mambourin and Harpley Estate a local bus for the first time and direct access to Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College.
An expanded Route 153 will add nearly 400 new weekly services and extended hours, improving access to Werribee Hospital, the new Wyndham Law Courts and the University of Melbourne and Victoria University’s Werribee campuses. In total, the upgrades will serve more than 4,500 additional households.
The new services build on the 470 additional bus trips introduced across the west earlier this year, as the region continues to grow at record pace.
