Jetstar will launch new international and domestic routes from Melbourne’s Avalon Airport in March 2026, including direct flights to Denpasar, Bali, and the return of services to Adelaide. The expansion marks a major step forward for Avalon, which will become Victoria’s second curfew-free international airport, boosting travel, tourism and regional jobs.
Starting 23 March 2026, Jetstar will operate five return flights each week between Avalon and Bali using its modern Airbus A321LR aircraft. The new route will add more than 120,000 seats annually, offering travellers across Melbourne, Geelong, the Surf Coast and the Bellarine Peninsula a convenient six-hour flight to one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations.
From 26 March 2026, Jetstar will also resume up to seven return flights a week between Avalon and Adelaide, reconnecting the two key cities and delivering up to 109,000 seats a year. The airline will increase services to Brisbane as well, adding up to five extra weekly flights and boosting capacity by another 107,000 seats annually.
Avalon Airport previously ran international flights between December 2018 and February 2020 – ending as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on international travel.
Jetstar CEO Stephanie Tully said the expansion marks a major milestone for the airline and Avalon Airport. “
This is a massive step forward for Jetstar at Melbourne Avalon Airport. We’re launching two new routes and adding more seat capacity than ever before,” she said.
“Whether it’s a family holiday in Bali or a weekend away in Adelaide or Brisbane, these services give Victorians even more options to take off more, for less.”
To support the growth, Avalon Airport will undergo significant upgrades, including 1,000 new terminal seats, improved runway lighting, enhanced security systems and an extra 500 parking spaces.
The Victorian Government will also launch Route 18, a new public bus connecting Lara Station to Avalon seven days a week, providing affordable access for passengers and airport workers.
