A brand new stage adaptation of The Great British Bake Off is heading to Australia, with its premiere production set to open in Melbourne in 2026 before touring to Sydney and Brisbane.
Produced by See You Sunday, the team behind the sell out Melbourne season of American Psycho – The Musical, the show promises a high energy theatrical spin on the world’s most comforting competition.
Producer Mark Taylor says the musical is a deliberate shift in tone for the company.
“After American Psycho, we wanted to swing the pendulum in the most unexpected direction possible. This show is pure joy. It’s funny, heartfelt and unapologetically feel-good. And yes, expect a few soggy bottoms along the way,” he said.
The Great British Bake Off Musical follows a group of contestants as they whisk, knead and bake their way through challenges under the watchful eyes of familiar judges and hosts. Expect original songs inspired by tense technical rounds and triumphant showstoppers, along with plenty of floury chaos as cakes collapse and friendships form.
The production first premiered in London’s West End in 2023, where reviewers dubbed it “the epitome of feel-good fun” and “the perfect recipe for a good night out”.
Celebrating friendship, community and the emotional stakes of baking under pressure, the musical leans into big laughs, heartfelt moments and lashings of buttercream.
