Melbourne’s cricket calendar is set for a huge summer, with the MCG confirmed to host three major international fixtures across the 2026 and 2027 season, including two clashes between Australia and England.
Cricket Australia has locked in an extended run at the ‘G, starting with a T20I showdown between Australia and England on Saturday November 21. The match will open the series between the long-time rivals and is expected to draw a strong early-season crowd under lights.
The traditional Boxing Day Test returns from December 26 to 30, with Australia taking on New Zealand in one of the summer’s marquee contests. The fixture remains a centrepiece of Melbourne’s sporting calendar, drawing fans from across the country for five days of Test cricket.
The season will then build to a historic finale in March, when Australia and England meet again for the 150th Anniversary Test Match, beginning on March 11, 2027. The day-night Test marks a significant milestone in the sport’s history and is expected to be one of the most in-demand tickets of the year.
Interest is already high, with the public ballot for the Anniversary Test now closed. Details around ticketing and on-sale dates for the November T20I and Boxing Day Test are yet to be confirmed.
