The Temper Trap are heading back on the road, announcing a national tour across September and October 2026, with a hometown show at Forum Melbourne on 11 September set to kick things off.
The run arrives just two months after the release of their fourth album Sungazer, due out 10 July. It marks the band’s most substantial Australian tour in years and continues a steady return that’s been building through new music and live appearances over the past 12 months.
From Melbourne, the tour moves through Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney before wrapping in Perth on 9 October. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 11am local time on Friday 17 April, following a Frontier Touring presale.
Sungazer is the band’s first album in a decade, following 2016’s Thick As Thieves. The record sees them stretching into new territory while holding onto the sound that first connected globally. Tracks like Lucky Dimes and Giving Up Air bring in electronic textures and club-influenced rhythms, while others return to the widescreen indie rock style that defined their early work.
At the centre remains vocalist Dougy Mandagi, whose distinctive high register continues to anchor the band’s sound.
“With time apart and much personal growth from us all, Sungazer feels like it’s captured the most pure collection of music we’ve ever made,” the group said. “We had more fun making this record and in the writing room than on any of the previous records we’ve done.”
Formed in Melbourne in 2005, The Temper Trap broke through with their 2009 debut Conditions, featuring the global hit Sweet Disposition. The track went on to define an era of indie music, earning multi-platinum status and long-running international airplay.
Two number one albums followed, alongside billions of streams and a catalogue that continues to find new audiences through remixes and film placements.
Now approaching 20 years as a band, their 2026 schedule also includes a North American tour supporting Muse and festival appearances alongside acts like The Strokes and Rüfüs Du Sol.
