If you’re looking for something fun and educational to take your kids to on the weekend or during the upcoming school holidays then look no further than 13,000 kilometres away from Melbourne.
You don’t have to actually leave Melbourne though, as Fever presents Machu Picchu: Journey to the Lost City – the VR experience, a unique glimpse into what life was like around 1450 A.D. at the height of the Incan Empire.

This experience was designed with the help of Incan historians on the real site of the city of Machu Picchu. The team was given exclusive access during the pandemic induced closure of the site roughly 2020-2022. With the use of drones, LiDAR and photogrammetry the real grounds were scanned, captured and converted into a digital landscape.
As the experience walks you through ancient history, you view the lost city through the lens of spirituality and connection to the Incan gods. You get a glimpse of what life may have been like for the average family living in Machu Picchu and what such a life had to offer. It follows a fun, lively and engaging story sure to keep the kids entertained and the adults curious.

This truly is a marvel of modern technology, the grounds of the lost city aren’t something most people can say that they’ve seen, photos are one thing but being able to view and traverse an area previously unknown to you on a far more accessible level is incredible. While it may be a far cry from the real thing, this is a fascinating way to view ancient history and a step forward in our ability to research and share knowledge of the wonders of our world.
Make sure to check out this experience while it’s running, you can go solo or take your friends or family. Be prepared to be immersed in history!
