Victoria’s long running pub parma debate has somehow become even harder to settle, with this year’s Australian Hotels Association Victoria Awards for Excellence ending in a rare three-way tie for Parma of the Year.
After judges scored venues across the state, three regional pubs walked away with perfect scores of 100, proving once again that country Victoria takes its pub meals very seriously. The Creekside Hotel in Warracknabeal, Lindenow Farmers Home Hotel and the Newborough Hotel were all crowned winners, with judges unable to separate the trio in one of the awards night’s most fiercely contested categories.
For parma lovers, it means there’s now an official regional Victoria road trip waiting to happen.
The annual awards, held on Monday night, celebrate the best pubs and hotels across the state, from food and drink through to accommodation and overall hospitality experience.
The Macedon Village Hotel took out the title of Overall Hotel of the Year Regional, recognised for its all round offering and strong reputation among locals and visitors alike. Closer to Melbourne, The Grand Warrandyte Hotel claimed Overall Hotel of the Year Metropolitan, cementing its place as one of the city’s standout pub destinations.
Meanwhile, Melbourne favourite The Oxford Scholar won the People’s Choice Award after public voting, praised for its atmosphere, live entertainment and classic pub experience in the CBD.
