Icelandic composer and multi-instrumentalist Ólafur Arnalds will make his Hamer Hall debut in March 2027, bringing his ambitious live experience Falling Apart Together to Melbourne for two performances.
The acclaimed musician will perform at Arts Centre Melbourne on 7 and 8 March, marking his first Australian tour since 2018. The shows follow international dates across Europe and America, with the Melbourne performances forming part of a wider Australian tour.
Known for blending piano, strings, electronic beats and atmospheric soundscapes, Arnalds will combine new material with works from his celebrated back catalogue in a production designed to create a shared experience between performers and audiences.
Arnalds said the project represents his most adventurous work yet.
“I haven’t toured Australia solo since 2018, and I’ve really missed it. Falling Apart Together is a very personal show, built around connection and the feeling of creating something that feels genuinely shared for an evening. I’m so happy to finally bring it to Australia, It feels like the right place for this show.”
Arnalds first gained recognition for his neo-classical compositions after starting his music career as a drummer in Icelandic metal bands. He has since expanded into electronic music through the experimental duo Kiasmos and composed acclaimed soundtracks for the BBC series Broadchurch and Apple TV+ drama Defending Jacob.
His 2020 album Some Kind of Peace earned three Grammy nominations, while his previous tours have sold out major venues including London’s Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House and Walt Disney Concert Hall.
The Melbourne concerts will run for approximately 120 minutes, with loud music and strobe lighting featured in the performance. The recommended age is 14 and over.
General public tickets go on sale at midday on Tuesday, 10 November 2026, with presale access available from Monday, 9 November.
