Marvel Stadium is throwing open its doors this September with something new: Stadium Sports, presented by Mountain Goat, a month-long takeover that turns Docklands into Melbourne’s biggest backyard for play, competition and knock-off drinks.
Running daily from Wednesday 17 September to Sunday 5 October (closed on public holidays), the precinct will be more than a venue – it’ll be a sports hub, a hangout, and a Finals season pit stop for fans and families alike.
Front and centre is Stadium Smash Pickleball at Stadium Square, Gate 2/3. Three full-sized courts will be ready for anyone keen to try Australia’s fastest-growing sport. Each court comes with a scoreboard and quality paddles and balls included in the hire fee, so whether you’re chasing bragging rights or just mucking around with mates, you’re set.
Just next door, the Stadium Sports Clubhouse takes over as the precinct’s social heart. With screens showing the 2025 Toyota AFL Finals Series, and Marvel’s premium food and drink offerings, Friends of Fire and The Wine Room, close at hand, it’s the place to sink a pint, talk footy and take in the buzz.
Former AFL player and Producey founder Dylan Buckley is leading the charge as ambassador. “As someone with a proud history of 10 games and five crucial goals at Marvel Stadium, I’m excited to be involved and launch the new Stadium Sports initiative that is set to transform the Marvel Stadium precinct like never before,” he said.
“Whether you’re a die-hard sports fan watching the AFL Finals on the big screens, a weekend social player, or even if you just come for the food, music and vibes – there’s truly something for everyone. I look forward to seeing you there!”
Last year Marvel drew crowds with Stadium Golf. This year it’s pickleball, with more sports to be announced – think Aussie rules and beyond.
Tickets start from $50, while access to Stadium Square and the Clubhouse is free.
