A quiet laneway in the CBD will play host to a focused whisky experience this Wednesday 29 April, as Mill Place Merchants teams up with Japanese distillery Nikka Whisky for a one-night tasting event.

Running from 6pm to 9pm, the evening is set inside the bar’s candlelit, speakeasy-style interior, where small groups and low lighting shape a more intimate pace. The tasting will be guided by Nikka ambassador Marcus Parmenter, offering insight into one of Japan’s most respected whisky producers.
Five expressions will be featured across the session, including Yoichi Single Malt, Miyagikyo Single Malt, Taketsuru Pure Malt, Nikka From the Barrel and Nikka Coffey Malt. Each pour is selected to highlight a different aspect of Nikka’s approach, from smoky and robust to lighter, more fruit-driven styles.

A series of canapés will be served alongside, designed to complement without overpowering. Expect options like jamon serrano croquettes with truffle emulsion, flash-cured Yarra Valley salmon crudo and lasagna fritti with stracciatella, all tailored to match the flavour profile of each whisky.

The event leans into detail and restraint, pairing considered food with a structured tasting format. With limited seating available, bookings are essential and require pre-payment, with reservations handled directly through the venue.
Seats are strictly limited— whisky lovers can contact info@millplacemerchants.bar to secure their place.
