More fans will be able to join a major celebration of John Farnham’s music, with The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend – The Celebration Concert screening live in HOYTS cinemas across Australia on Sunday 20 September.
The one-night-only concert at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena sold out rapidly, but fans who missed out on tickets will now be able to experience the show live on the big screen as it happens.
HOYTS is partnering exclusively with show producers Cochrane Entertainment and TEG Dainty for what is being billed as an unprecedented live-streamed cinema event for an Australian concert production of this scale.
More than 120 artists and musicians will take to the stage for the celebration, under the musical direction and arrangements of Farnham’s longtime Musical Director Chong Lim.
The lineup includes Vanessa Amorosi, Tina Arena, Jimmy Barnes, Mahalia Barnes, Kate Ceberano, Diesel, Rob Farnham, Dannielle Gaha, Hans, Human Nature, Jack Jones, Richard Marx, Jessica Mauboy, Ruby Rodgers, Jon Stevens, Mitch Tambo, Keith Urban, Mark Vincent and Ross Wilson.
Celine Dion and Hugh Jackman will also appear remotely for their performances.
HOYTS Group General Manager of Programming and Content Michelle Gater said the cinema broadcast would allow fans around the country to share the occasion together.
“John Farnham’s music is woven into the lives of generations of Australians, and this promises to be an uplifting, powerful celebration of his remarkable legacy,” Michelle said.
“With the Rod Laver Arena concert selling out, we are honoured to partner with Cochrane Entertainment and TEG Dainty to bring this event live to HOYTS cinemas across the country, giving many more fans the chance to share in the music, fun and emotion of the night,” she said.
Tickets for the live broadcast go on sale from 9am AEST on Thursday 3 September.
