It’s beginning to look a lot like MIFGS! Following record-breaking attendance in 2023, the highly anticipated Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, returns to the world-heritage-listed Carlton Gardens and Royal Exhibition Building this autumn. From Wednesday 20 March until Sunday 24 March 2024, the five-day extravaganza promises a host of new and enchanting horticultural experiences for all.
From breathtaking floral exhibitions and enlightening talks by industry experts, to new food and entertainment zones and family-friendly workshops, the southern hemisphere’s largest horticultural event will transform one of Victoria’s most iconic gardens into a botanical paradise.
Experience a wide range of activities amidst the cityscape, including:
- Show garden competition: Featuring acclaimed designers from Sweden, Ireland, and Japan.
- Indigenous show garden: A collaboration with the Wurundjeri Council, celebrating the connection to the land.
- Urban forest: A partnership with the City of Melbourne, offering free workshops, DJs, and food trucks.
- New program highlights: Including aerial floral displays, the Bloomin’ Wheels exhibition, interactive cultural gardens, and captivating tablescapes.
- Twilight tapas: Extend the enjoyment into the evening with a special offering at Gardens by Twilight.
- Boutique gardens: Explore the evolving nature of the Australian backyard in 5m x 5m spaces, led by aspiring horticulturists.
- Achievable gardens: Embrace achievable garden designs, perfect for inspiration.
- Balcony gardens: Discover oases in 2.4m x 1.2m spaces, alongside bespoke Border Gardens and the Hanging Basket Competition.
- Arts and sculpture precinct: Marvel at the artistic displays while little ones are entertained with immersive experiences by the Nursery and Garden Industry Victoria.
Inside the Royal Exhibition Building:
- Great hall of flowers: Delight in a kaleidoscope of color and enchanting aromas.
- Blooms unleashed exhibit: Witness award-worthy aerial floral displays.
