Jet have today announced an extended run of dates across Australia this May and June celebrating the 20-year anniversary of their seminal debut album, Get Born.
Due to popular demand, the band are extending their highly successful anniversary tour from September last year to visit a fresh list of towns and cities across the country. The ‘Extended Edition’ begins in Torquay on Friday May 10 before heading interstate.
Jet will play Get Born in full, re-visiting the incredible track list that won them fans right across the world – including timeless tracks such as Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Look What You’ve Done, Rollover DJ and Get Me Outta Here.
Reflecting on the album, Nic Cester said, ‘Get Born was a rare and unique moment of total planetary alignment where we somehow managed to capture lighting in a bottle.’
Mark Wilson said ‘I don’t remember much about the actual day Get Born was released. I think we were in Pittsburgh. I’m sure we celebrated, but to be honest we celebrated every night back in those days. 2003 was one big blurry haze for me.’
Get Born scored six ARIA Awards and was certified 9 times platinum in Australia, making it one of the top 5 highest-selling Australian rock albums of all time.
After calling it a day in 2012, the band briefly reformed in 2017 to play with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band on their sold-out Australian tour of that year. Following an overwhelming response to those shows, the band dipped their toe back in the live waters with a triumphant appearance at the legendary Fuji Rock festival in Japan and sold-out shows at Sydney and Melbourne Zoos. The reaction from fans was enough to suggest that demand for the band was stronger than ever.
