The Whitlams are gearing up to mark a monumental milestone: the 25th anniversary of their double platinum album, Love This City. Renowned for their evocative storytelling and soulful melodies, the band will play their favourite Melbourne venue, the Corner Hotel, on 4 and 5 October as they kick off a national tour celebrating this landmark in their storied career.
Love This City, the ambitious big-budget follow-up to the critically acclaimed Eternal Nightcap, has only grown in esteem over the years. Last year, it earned a spot on Rolling Stone’s list of Best Australian Albums of All Time, coming in at number 101.
The album, known for its penetrating social commentary and world-wise romanticism, spawned memorable singles like Blow Up the Pokies and Thank You (for loving me at my worst).
To celebrate, The Whitlams will perform Love This City in its entirety, followed by a set of their greatest hits, ensuring a night packed with fan favourites and live staples. Adding to the excitement, the band is bringing a brass section to the stage, promising to enhance the lush, orchestral feel of the original album and bring a new dynamic to their performance.
Tickets go on pre-sale on Tuesday 19 June.
