The City of Melbourne’s 2024 Christmas Festival kicks off on November 29, transforming the city into a festive wonderland throughout December. Families will be treated to nightly sound and light shows, live entertainment, and interactive displays across key city locations.
The festivities begin with the lighting of the grand 17.5-meter Christmas Tree at Christmas Square (Fed Square) setting the stage for a month of holiday cheer.
A highlight of this year’s festival is the spectacular Crown Christmas River Show along the Yarra River, featuring synchronised water fountains, lasers, lights, and festive music every evening.
At Marvel Stadium’s North Pole experience, a festive wonderland awaits with a 360-degree cinema, Santa photo opportunities, holiday decorations, and Christmas trees themed for each of the 18 AFL clubs.
Other highlights include a special Christmas bubble show, where bubble artists create captivating festive displays and Koorie Krismas at Fed Square, which celebrates First Nations culture with markets, workshops, and more.
Classic holiday films will screen at Capitol Theatre’s Christmas Cinema, with proceeds from ticketed events like the cinema and bubble show supporting local food relief programs.
There’s also a Christmas Carnival along the banks of the Yarra in the Alexandra Gardens, offering thrilling rides and delicious treats.
With most events free to attend, Melbourne’s 2024 Christmas Festival promises a magical holiday season for all. Find out more here.
